New Brighton One Stop Shop

Open Monday to Friday from 11am till 3pm.This is a great service that provides invaluable help for local people right on their doorstep. It also includes a free phone facility and private rooms with a loop system for those that are hard of hearing. It provides assistance on all the Wirral Borough Council services including the Pension Service, Age Concern & the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) which also operates advice surgeries once a week for the Polish Community and offers them vital assistance.



Lunch Club

This provides a lifeline for those people & families on low incomes as well as elderly people. It is a great way for people to get to know each other and make friends in a very friendly environment. It also provides a bingo club and days out to places of interest; the latter is provided from member subs. Lunch is served Tuesday/Wednesday & Thursday from 12.30pm and a 3 course meal is only £3.00 with a mug of tea or coffee.


Credit Union

This offers people community loans which are a vital means of support in the present economic situation and are a very important helping hand for those people seeking work and on low incomes, particularly those struggling to survive financially. It meets every Tuesday 10am to 11am.


Wirral Pathfinders – Mental Health/Self Help Support Group

This group was established in 1992 to support people, their family and carers, for whom depression, anxiety and mental health problems are part of everyday life. It has gone on to help hundreds learn to manage their problems, building up their self-esteem and confidence, helping them to remove their feelings of isolation. The club meets every Thursday – 7pm – 9pm and a very warm welcome awaits all those that come along (attendance 30).


UK Online Computer Suite

This service which started in 2002 offers local residents’ free internet and email addresses. It’s a valuable resource were residents can surf the web, search for jobs (see Bridge to Jobs description below) and relax in comfortable surroundings. They can also enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and seek the assistance of the ICT Facilitator should they have any problems or need advice. Residents can also scan documents, use the photocopier or fax.


Police Surgery

A local Neighbourhood Police Surgery is held every Tuesday morning 10-12pm for residents experiencing problems with anti social behaviour and other associated problems.


Working Links

Working Links was formed in 2000 to address the challenges faced by long-term unemployed people and help them back into sustainable work, strengthen our capacity to build long term value; help more disadvantaged people in lots of different circumstances;  become more established in markets, such as skills social justice, health and communities.


Workers Educational Association (WEA)

Our vision is to be the recognised voice of adult learners, and the leading provider of adult and community learning in the UK by any standard. The WEA is a 21st Century, democratic, voluntary adult education movement, committed to widening participation and to enabling people to realise their full potential through learning. Oldershaw School

This local school operates what they term an off site classroom 5 days a week. The children that attend are taught by the schools teachers/mentors and they use the basement area & IT suite when convenient for their lessons and curriculum. They also help out with the Lunch Club serving meals and have the local ‘Connexions’ attending to advise on their career prospects.


Shaw Trust

Want to brush up your maths & English, improve your confidence and learn practical skills, recognised by all employers? – join our small, select group now! You can earn £30 per week allowance, with extra bonuses, get a free bus pass and have the opportunity to get some valuable work experience.


Reach Out

Provides engagement activity through door knocking, to identify and refer clients to both mainstream delivery organisations and to other relevant projects progressing clients into employment and training. The project goes onto develop action plans with clients through Employment Support Workers, progressing clients into employment and removing barriers through use of a discretionary fund.


Musical Playtime

Music & Movement classes with a difference for babies & toddlers (6 months – 3 years). Classes include action songs, musical instrument fun and active play with balls, hoops, bean bag etc. Musical Playtimes the time: Friday 1.45pm till 2.30pm and contact: Wendy Reynolds: 079 67716219.
